The Alcove and Basic Creek Reservoirs are monitored by water department staff bi-monthly from May through October and monthly from November through April. Physical and chemical parameters are analyzed on site, at the Albany Water Quality lab in Feura Bush, or by external labs. Additionally, aquatic biota of the reservoirs and their tributaries are surveyed annually. From this monitoring we are able to understand long-term water quality trends that help inform activities such as watershed management, invasive species management, forest management, and harmful algal bloom mitigation, all to protect the City of Albany’s source water for the present and future.
