Albany, NY – The City of Albany has partnered with the Capital District Transportation Committee (CDTC) to evaluate the accessibility of pedestrian infrastructure on City-owned and maintained streets to ensure adherence to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). The purpose of the ADA Transition Plan is to ensure the City of Albany pedestrian infrastructure in the public right-of-way is accessible for everyone, including individuals with disabilities. 

The City, in partnership with CDTC, has identified and evaluated pedestrian infrastructure in the public right-of-way including curb ramps, crosswalks, pedestrian signals, pedestrian accessible transit stops, as well as city-owned multi-use trails that are paved. 

The City is hosting two (2) community engagement work sessions to help solicit public input and comments regarding the proposed ADA Transition Plan, and most importantly into the factors that should be considered in setting priorities for improvements. The ADA Transition Plan Community Engagement Meeting Session Schedule is as follows:

Meeting #1 - Tuesday, January 24, 2023
