[ARCHIVED] Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan Announces Opening of City Spray Pads Due to Forecasted High Temperatures

ALBANY, NY – Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan announced six City of Albany spray pads will open on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and alsoHeat_Illness (1) reminded residents of the various ways to keep cool during the current warm weather period. Mayor Sheehan also shared information on how to identify and respond to heat-related illnesses and the importance of staying hydrated.

“With temperatures and humidity levels rising, it is important residents are aware of the various ways they can stay cool,” said Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan. “It is also important to remain hydrated, check in on elderly neighbors, and be able to recognize the signs of heat-related illnesses.” 

The following City of Albany spray pads will be open Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to provide a fun way to find relief from the warm weather. 

Spray Pads are located at the following Albany parks: 

  • Colonie Street Park 
    • Green area on bend near Livingston Avenue 
  • Hackett Park 
    • North First Street 
  • Ridgefield Park  
    • 316 Partridge Street 
  • North Swan Street Park 
  • Lincoln Park 
  • Krank Park
    • 65 First Avenue

Please note: the following spray pads will NOT be open this weekend due to ongoing maintenance: Westland Hills, Black Lives Matter Park, Rosemont, Swinburne, and Sheridan Hollow.  

Should you or someone you know feel overcome by the heat, please move to a cool and shaded location and dial 911.
