[ARCHIVED] Statement from Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan Regarding Positive COVID-19 Test Result

Contact: David Galin

ALBANY, NY – Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan has released the following statement:

“This morning, I tested positive for COVID-19. While I began experiencing mild, allergy-like symptoms late last night, I am thankful I am fully vaccinated and boosted because as we have learned over the past two-plus years, my symptoms could be far worse.

“Consistent with the CDC and New York State Department of Health protocols, I will work in isolation for at least the next five days and reassess my symptoms at that time. I will continue to carry out the duties of Mayor virtually. I am in contact with members of my senior staff by phone and will participate in meetings online.

“I want to use this opportunity to remind our neighbors and friends to get tested for COVID, even if you have allergy-like symptoms, and to get vaccinated and boosted if you have not yet done so. It is clear COVID is still very present in our community and these healthy behaviors can help save your life and the lives of your loved ones.”
