ALBANY, NY – Today, Treasurer Darius Shahinfar announced that the Parking Amnesty Program will be extended through July 8, 2020, and therefore anyone who pays City of Albany parking tickets by July 8 will not be responsible for paying any late fees that may have accrued.
“Due to the continued disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, today I authorized the Parking Violations Bureau to extend the removal of late fees from any and all delinquent parking violations in the City of Albany upon request through July 8, 2020. Now is the time to take care of your old parking tickets,” said City Treasurer Darius Shahinfar.
On July 10, the Albany Parking Authority will lift the suspension on booting of vehicles of owners with over $200 in outstanding parking tickets. You may view your ticket history and boot eligibility online by entering your license plate, ticket or vehicle identification number, or by calling (518) 434-5006.
To remove late fees, individuals must first request the fee removal. Tickets may be searched and viewed online by entering your license plate, ticket or vehicle identification number, or by calling (518) 434-5006.
The best way to request your fee removal is by e-mail, or via mail at City Hall, Rm. 203 Albany, NY 12207. When contacting the Bureau, be sure to provide your license plate number and/or your name, phone number, e-mail, or ticket number(s).
Although City Hall has reopened to the public by appointment only, pursuant to Governor Cuomo’s and the CDC’s guidelines, it is still strongly recommended NOT to visit City Hall for the purposes of paying or disputing a parking ticket. Please contact the Bureau by the above methods.
Once requested, the fees will be removed, and individuals will be contacted so that they can go online to view the amount owed and either pay by credit card, or mail in a check for the reduced amount. Cash payments may only be made at City Hall.
To dispute a parking ticket, please contact the Bureau either via e-mail at parkingticketappeal@albanyny.gov, by calling (518) 434-5006, or via mail at City Hall, Rm. 203 Albany, NY 12207.
More information may be found on the Parking Violations Bureau website.
The City reminds vehicle owners that nearly ALL PARKING RULES ARE STILL IN EFFECT, including alternate side parking, emergency no-parking restrictions, handicapped and fire hydrant parking restrictions, double parking, etc. The only exception is timing restrictions are NOT in effect in Lincoln and Washington Parks.
