ALBANY, NY – The victim of a homicide that occurred late Saturday night on Central Avenue has been identified as 32-year-old Shanita Thomas of Albany.

On Saturday, January 30, 2021 at approximately 11:00 p.m., officers responded to a building on the 200 block of Central Avenue just west of Robin Street for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officer located Thomas, and two other women, ages 27and 37, at the scene with gunshot wounds.

All three were treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital where Thomas was pronounced. The other two victims sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Shortly after the call, staff from Albany Medical Center Hospital notified police that two men, ages 30 and 33, had just entered the emergency room with non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Through the investigation it was determined that both men were also shot during the incident on Central Avenue.
