ALBANY, NY – "The City of Albany was impacted by what appears to be a worldwide issue affecting desktop computers running Windows software.
We immediately prioritized our 911 dispatch center, which is fully back online. During the IT interruption we were able to receive calls and dispatch the Police and Fire departments to respond to emergencies.
Our IT team has been working all morning to manually update impacted Windows desktops. A large portion of the impacted desktops in our forward-facing departments were fixed before City Hall opened for business, and we are working through the morning to update all other desktops.
We are in close contact with New York State and our IT partners to understand what caused this issue and any further actions that may be required."
