What:        Public Hearing – Water and Sewer Rate Increase
When:          Thursday, November 21, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Where:          10 N. Enterprise Drive, Albany, NY 12204
Background:  As a 24/7 operation, the Albany Water Department manages the water supply at local reservoirs, cleans the water at our treatment plant, and reliably delivers water through a distribution system. AWD also maintains the pipes that safely carry away wastewater and stormwater.
Much of Albany’s water and sewer infrastructure is over 100 years old. Repairs and upgrades are necessary to guarantee the delivery of clean water and the removal of wastewater and stormwater.
Water and sewer bills help pay for these improvements, as well as daily operations and maintenance. To keep costs to ratepayers low, AWD has applied for and received almost $30 million in grants in recent years.
