Albany, NY – Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan will host a tree lighting ceremony in front of Albany City Hall on Thursday, November 30 at 5:30 p.m. in honor of the holiday season. City Hall will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. with refreshments, music and informational tables. Presented in conjunction with the Albany Holiday Market the same evening, a free Advantage Transit Group trolley will shuttle attendees between City Hall, Albany Institute of History & Art, Fort Orange General Store, The Arcade Building and the Albany Visitors Center. 

The tree lighting ceremony kicks off with a concert by Amy Heebner on the historic Albany City Carillon beginning at 4:30. Mayor Sheehan, members of the Albany Tulip Court and city officials will light the tree at 5:30. Inside City Hall, enjoy a holiday performance by Albany High School Albanettes Choir and refreshments from Albany High Culinary Students and Stacks Espresso. Representatives from local organizations including the Albany Public Library, Capital Car Share and the Palace Theatre will be on-hand with information on their programs and upcoming events. 

Attendees are encouraged to spend the evening downtown and visit the 6th Annual Albany Holiday Market at the Albany Visitors Center, Albany Institute of History & Art, Fort Orange General Store, and The Arcade building after the tree lighting featuring vendors selling locally made and sourced goods, live entertainment, craft beverages, art exhibits, restaurant promotions, and drop-in workshops.  For more information, visit or call 518.434.0405.
