ALBANY, NY – A 19-year-old Albany man was arrested Monday evening for possessing a loaded handgun while on Bleeker Terrace.

On Monday, August 12, 2019 at approximately 9:15 p.m., officers observed Jamir Hartfield walking through the parking lot of the Bleeker Terrace apartments where he was seen removing a handgun from a fanny pack and dropping it on the ground. Officers immediately approached and recovered the 9mm handgun which was also loaded with several rounds.
Hartfiled was taken into custody at the scene and charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd and one count of Criminal Possession 3rd.
While officers were attempting to take Hartfield into custody, 18-year-old Zaiqua Acosta of Albany intentionally approached officers in an effort to intimidate the officers and obstruct them from arresting Hartfield. Acosta then encouraged a large group to surround the officers and engage in a physical altercation with arresting officers.
Acosta was subsequently arrested and charged with Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd, Inciting a Riot and Disorderly Conduct.
Both men are scheduled to be arraigned this morning in the Albany City Criminal Court.
Since February, this is the fourth time Hartfield has been arrested for possessing loaded handguns in the City of Albany.
