ALBANY, NY – Albany police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred this evening on South Pearl Street. 
On Monday, August 26, 2019 at approximately 7:00 p.m., an Albany police officer was flagged down near the 100 block of South Pearl Street by a man who stated that he had been shot. The victim, a 23-year-old male, was transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital where he is being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening.  
Through the investigation, it was determined that the victim was shot while outside near South Pearl Street and Westerlo Street. 
At this time the investigation remains ongoing.
