ALBANY, NY –The man who died during an early morning shooting today on Teunis Street has been identified as 32-year-old Ejijah Cancer of Albany.

Cancer was shot in the torso at approximately 3:10 a.m., outside on Teunis Street between Second and Third Avenues during an altercation.

Another victim, a 31-year-old from Albany, also sustained a gunshot wound to the arm. He was treated at the scene by medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Preliminarily, it appears that there was a large altercation at the location involving a group of girls and that Cancer may have been attempting to break up the fight when he was shot.

The incident remains under investigation.
