Mayor Sheehan Reminds Residents of Various Ways to Keep Cool During Upcoming Warm Weather

ALBANY, NY – Today, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan reminded residents of the various ways to keep cool during the upcoming warm weather period.  Mayor Sheehan also shared information on how to identify and respond to heat-related illnesses and the importance of staying hydrated.

“With temperatures and humidity levels rising, it is important residents are aware of the various ways they can stay cool over the next several days,” said Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan.  “It is also important to remain hydrated, check in on elderly neighbors, and be able to recognize the signs of heat-related illnesses.”

Should you or someone you know feel overcome by the heat, please move to a cool and shaded location and dial 911.  Attached is a graphic from the National Weather Service with recommended ways to stay safe during the warm weather.

The City of Albany’s 11 spray pads are open each day from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to provide a fun way to find relief from the warm weather.  For more information, please call the City of Albany Department of Recreation at (518) 434-5699 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m..

The City of Albany’s three pools are open seven days a week as an additional way to stay cool and have fun.  The pools’ locations and hours of operation are:
