ALBANY, NY – A 25-year-old Albany man has been charged in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred this morning on Madison Avenue.

Just before 1:00 a.m., officers responded to the area of Madison Avenue and Lark Street for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located four male victims who sustained stab wounds during a fight that had just taken place near the intersection.

All four victims, ages 22 and 23, were treated at the scene by medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital where they are currently being treated for their injuries.

One of the men sustained serious injuries to his abdomen and remains in critical condition at the hospital.

Shortly after the call, Joseph Sanchez was located nearby by officers and subsequently identified as a suspect in the stabbings. He was taken into custody.

Through the investigation, officers learned that Sanchez became involved in an altercation with the victims at a local establishment and the fight made its way to the street. While outside and armed with a knife, Sanchez stabbed the four men near Lark Street and Madison Avenue.

Sanchez has been charged with Attempted Murder 1st and arraigned in the Albany City Criminal Court.
