2019 Tax bills are prepared and 2019 property tax information will be available on January 1st, 2019 both online at: and in the Treasurer’s Office, Rm. 110 in City Hall, 24 Eagle St.
You may view, print and/or pay your tax bill at this site.

IF YOU RECEIVED A DUPLICATE BILL IN THE MAIL , you need pay only one bill.  Some Senior bills were inadvertently mailed twice.  You may keep the second bill for your records, or keep the second bill to use for your second payment (if you elect to split your payment).  This applies to Senior tax bills only, and the installment payment option is clearly marked on such bills, and is not available to the general public.

Tax bills should be received no later than Monday, January 7, 2019.  Please do not call our office if you did not receive a tax bill until after January 8, 2019.  You may always click on the link above to view or print your bill

If you would like a copy of your tax bill emailed to you, please send a request to, and we will e-mail you a copy of your tax bill ASAP, but no later than 24 hours from your e-mail.

THE BEST AND EASIEST WAY TO PAY YOUR TAX BILL IS ONLINE by credit card or from your checking account.  ONLINE PAYMENT FROM YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT IS BY FAR THE EASIEST METHOD TO MAKE PAYMENT (50 cent fee applies). You may also pay with a credit card for a 25 cent fee and a 1.95% charge.

RECEIPTS are mailed on a regular basis to those who have requested them by mail, by returning their entire tax bill with payment. RECEIPTS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE ONLINE. E-receipts of all 2018 payments will be available online within 48 hours of posting of the payment.

All property taxes are due and, if mailed, must be postmarked by the US Post Office by January 31st (February 6th for Senior exemption bills) to avoid penalties and interest. Under New York State law, penalties MUST be added if a payment is late under all circumstances, and municipalities have no discretion to waive the interest added for late payments.

There is a $34.00 fee for all returned payments.

The Treasurer’s office now offers multiple ways for you to obtain property tax bill information.

Under the City Charter, the Treasurer is the Chief Fiscal Officer. The Treasurer is responsible for the collection, receipt, care and custody of all taxes and monies due to the City. The Treasurer is also responsible for payment of all vouchers, claims, payroll and other authorized disbursements, and oversees investment and debt management as authorized by State and local law. As Chief Fiscal Officer, the Treasurer is responsible for the preparation of the City’s financial statements. 

In addition, the City Treasurer supervises Albany’s Parking Violations Bureau.
