Edward Hyde Clarke was elected to the Albany Common Council, representing the 12th Ward in 2021.
Hyde serves as the President of the Upper Washington Avenue Neighborhood Association and as a board member for Westland Hills Baseball and Softball. In addition to his board positions, Hyde is an active member with the Albany County Bar Association, a mentor with Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar, and serves on the Albany County Ethics Commission. Prior to being elected to the Common Council, Hyde volunteered as a member of the City of Albany Sustainability Advisory Committee. Outside of formal volunteer positions, Hyde enjoys helping with neighborhood cleanups and supporting local organizations and businesses throughout the 12th Ward and the City of Albany.
Hyde graduated magna cum laude from SUNY Oneonta with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science in 2010. Hyde is a 2014 graduate of Albany Law School and is a practicing attorney with the law firm Young/Sommer LLC in Albany. Hyde's legal practice focuses on environmental and municipal law, specifically land use and renewable energy development.
Hyde lives with his wife Kathryn, their infant son Brooks, and their rescue dog Peaches.
