Welcome to the City of Albany’s Department of Youth & Workforce Services

This Department provides a wide array of services to youth and families intended to enrich the lives they serve and improve the quality of life of this community.

Please take a moment to review the programs an initiatives that are part of the vision of the Mayor of Albany. We at the Department of Youth & Workforce Services remain committed to quality level programs that will serve anyone in the community with such needs. Our programs contain hope and offer a positive future and an enriched sense of community.

The Youth Opportunity Office (YOO) works cooperatively with all facets of the local community to plan, develop and coordinate services which will enrich and further develop the lives of our young people. Some of the programs that are currently offered include:

• Compass Rose Re-Entry Services
• My Brother's and Sister's Keeper
• Service Navigation System
• Summer Youth Employment Program

The Workforce Division of the Department also co-manages Career Central, Albany's Career Center in partnership with the New York State Department of Labor and the Capital Region Workforce Investment Board. Together they provide a universally accessible workforce development system that meets the needs of jobseekers and employers and supports economic growth.
