The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather advisory for the City of Albany and surrounding areas as there is potential for the area to experience significant rainfall this week and through the weekend. There are areas throughout the City that historically experience flooding (i.e.  Central Avenue, Sheridan Hollow, Holland Avenue, Elberon Place.) We ask that you avoid these areas if possible. Residents in these areas, and throughout the City, should be prepared for excessive rainfall.

Please report any flooding or backups to the Water Department 24-hour Dispatch Center: 518-434-5322.

The Water Department cautions residents on the following:
  • Do not leave debris on curbs or near sewers where the debris may block the flow of water
  • Do not do laundry or other activities that may further tax the sewer system during heavy periods of rain.
  • Motorists should be on the lookout for washed-out roads, earth slides, broken water or sewer mains, loose or downed electrical wires and fallen objects.
