The mission of this Department is two-fold:
The Youth Division of the Department works cooperatively with all facets of the local community to plan, develop and coordinate services which will enrich and further develop the lives of our young people. Some of the programs that are currently offered include:
-
Albany YouthBuild
-
AmeriCorps School Success
-
Gang Prevention
-
Service Navigation System
-
Summer Youth Employment Program
-
Truancy Abatement Program
The Department also manages and oversees the “One-Stop” Employment Center called Career Central. The mission of this unit is to provide enhanced employment opportunities for people and a quality workforce for business in the Capital Region. It works in conjunction with the Capital Region Workforce Investment Board (CRWIB) to provide a universally accessible workforce development system in this region that meets the needs of jobseekers and employers and supports economic growth.
