On Sunday, September 07, 1997 at approximately 7:00 am in Albany's Washington Park, city park workers found an abandoned baby boy lying near the statue of Moses. The infant child was wrapped in a pillowcase with his umbilical cord still attached, and was scorched with fire. The baby was alive for approximately 12 hours before his horrible death. This fragile child was named Moses Washington, and through the kindness of donations he was laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery.
