Public Information Officer

The Public Information Officer serves as a liaison between the Department of Public Safety and the media.  It is necessary to recognize that Public Safety matters generally are also matters that will concern the community.   Television stations, newspapers, radio, and the Internet are a direct conduit to the public as a source of information.  That specific information can directly affect their daily lives.  Citizens want to know and have a right to know what is happening in their neighborhoods, workplaces and places of interest. 

Just as the News Media has an inherent responsibility to keep the public informed, the Public Information Officer has a responsibility to do the same.
