Engineering Staff

Administration

Responsible for the administration of the activities of all engineering staff, all municipal engineering activities, and related professional engineering work in the City of Albany.

Building Facilities Group   

Responsible for contracted maintenance and capital improvements to 60 City owned buildings located throughout the City.  These buildings serve a variety of purposes including: administrative offices; recreation; police, fire and emergency response; and youth services.  Work includes building maintenance, repairs, and renovations to city-owned buildings including structural, architectural, plumbing, HVAC, fire alarm, elevator, and other related building system projects.   This group also oversees maintenance and capital improvements to several City owned bridges.  This group provides interdepartment support for the review of new retaining walls (Building & Codes) and provides technical assistance to City building maintenance crews (DGS).

Civil Site Engineering Group

Responsible for reviewing and approving storm water and erosion control for developments in the City of Albany.  This group is also responsible for the issuance of grading permits, sewer permits, minor property subdivision approval, minor property consolidation approval, and major contracted street, sidewalk, and handicapped access ramp capital improvement projects (not maintenance) throughout the City.  This group provides engineering design services for various recreational improvements including golf course improvements, swimming pool improvements, tennis and basketball court improvements, and spray pool improvements.  This group provides interdepartmental reviews for street opening permits (DGS), right-of-way access approvals (DGS), and site plan reviews (Planning) for compliance with city standards and specifications.
