Office of Equal Employment OpportunityThe Office of Equal Opportunity (EEO) oversees the City's Affirmative Action Plan which prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, age, gender, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, and status as a Vietnam Era Veteran. The Affirmative Action Plan applies to all aspects of the City's personnel policies, programs, practices and operations.
This office also has responsibility for enforcing the City's Human Rights Ordinance and monitoring fair housing laws and policies. Accordingly, EEO handles complaints of discrimination and, where appropriate, refers cases to agencies such as: The City of Albany Human Rights Commission, New York State Civil Rights Bureau, New York State Division of Human Rights, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
