Council Member Golby was first elected to the Common Council in 2009 and began serving in January 2010. Ms. Golby collaborates with neighbors to preserve and improve the quality of life for everyone in our City. Leah is a key member of the steering committee for the annual Upper Madison Street Fair and an active member of the Pine Hills Neighborhood Association. She has a reputation for addressing concerns promptly when contacted by neighbors and pointing people in the right direction when they have questions. She lends her voice to support tenants in buildings for low income seniors and people with disabilities in her Ward, and assists homeowners and all tenants throughout the neighborhood when they need help. She is instrumental in advocating for sustainable and flood mitigation projects--specifically on Ryckman and Elberon Place in Pine Hills.

Council’s Public Safety Committee, and works to further the Community Policing philosophy of the Albany Police Department. She was recognized as an “Outstanding Public Official” from the Neighborhood Resource Center in 2011 and currently serves on the Boards of Capital CarShare and the New York Bicycling Coalition. When she isn’t engaged in her work as a Council Member, she is employed as a grant writer for the Alliance for Quality Education, an organization that supports equity and opportunity for public school students across New York State, regardless of zip code. Leah lives on Myrtle Avenue in Pine Hills with her family. Leah strives to be an open and accessible elected representative.
