Ward 12

Michael O’Brien was first elected from the 12^th Ward on Albany’s Common Council in 2001. He is a life long Albany resident having graduated from Blessed Sacrament Elementary School and Christian Brothers Academy. He is an attorney employed by the New York State Health Department in the Administrative Hearings Bureau. He is also a retired JAG (Lieutenant Colonel) having served many years with the New York Army National Guard.

Mike is active in neighborhood associations including West End NA, Beverwyck NA, Shaker Park/Bishops Gate NA, and Upper Washington Ave NA where he was a past officer. He has served on the advisory board of Westland Hills Little League and on the board of Camary Autistic Services.

Mike resides on Danker Ave with his wife Diana and their three daughters. Currently he is chair of the Council’s General Services Committee and is a member of the Law Committee and the Public Safety Committee.
