Honorable Joseph Igoe

Joseph Michael Igoe was born in Albany and raised in the Pine Hills neighborhood. He was educated at Vincentian C.C.D. and Christian Brothers Academy. He holds a Bachelors Degree in history from Marist College and attended St. Patrick's College Maynooth, Ireland and Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations.

He has been employed by the bipartisan State Legislative Bill Drafting Commission in various government positions for over thirty-two years and since 1984 has been the Managing Editor of the State of New York Legislative Digest.

He is Chairman of the Common Council's Law Committee, Buildings and Code Enforcement, Vice Chairman of the Operations and Ethics Committee, and a member of the Public Safety Committee.

He and his wife Marcia live at 62 Aspen Circle with their three children, Joe, Shannon and Brenna.

He is a member of Albany Elks Lodge #49, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Knights of Columbus, Albany YMCA, Polish American Citizens Club, Albany High School PTA, CBA Fathers Association & the Holy Cross Men's Association.  He is a daily communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church.

He is a member of the Albany County Youth Board, Mayor's Safe City Advisory Board and has served the youth of the city in various capacities including: YMCA-YBL coach, National Little League Coach, PAL volunteer and Scout Leader pack #149.

He has been a member of the Albany County Democratic Committee for over sixteen years.

Joe was re-elected in 2005 for his third term and once again had the largest plurality of all councilmen in the city.
