Dominick Calsolaro has lived in Albany for almost all of his 48 years. He is a graduate of Cardinal McCloskey High School, Class of 1973 and Siena College, Class of 1977 having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Dominick has been employed by the New York State Legislative Bill Drafting Commission for over 25 years. He is married to Mary LaMont, Vincentian Institute - Class of 1973, and they have two children: Dominick, Jr. and Catherine who attend Albany Public Schools and a dog named Scraps. In November 2001 Dominick was elected to the Albany Common Council in his first-ever attempt at elective office.

The Calsolaro family has a long history in Albany. Calsolaro's Restaurant, a Washington Avenue Landmark, was open by his grandparents in 1936 and operated for 56 years until his father retired in 1992. Since 1987, he and his family have lived on Clare Avenue and been very active in the community.

Calsolaro presently serves on the Advisory Board of Historic Cherry Hill and the advisory group for the University at Albany's School of Social Welfare in addition to his membership on the Mansion Area Parking Study Group. Calsolaro has also served as President of the Second Avenue Neighborhood Association, Chair of Albany Operation Weed and Seed, an original member of the Mayor's South End Revitalization Task Force, coach and secretary of Whitehall Little League, member of the Albany City School District's Budget Advisory Committee and is a current PTA member at Hackett Middle School and the Albany School of Humanities; etc.

Dominick enjoys serving the residents of the First Ward and working on ways to make Albany a more desirable place in which to live.
